Using Your Intuiton in Your Life

Our intuition is that inner knowing or gutting feeling we get that is telling us something important or that is guiding us in a particular direction. These messages are often subtle and usually do not come banging on the door, nor do they come shooting out the sky like a bolt of lightning. They are more likely to come to us through our thoughts, emotions, dreams and/or creativity.

Life can be incredibly busy, especially if you are running a business and also have family. When we are so busy, we don’t have time to stop let alone pay attention to our subtle inner intuitions. In addition to being busy, we can tend to over analyse and intellectualize everything. This too can also block our intuition.

How can we be more in touch with our own inner intuition? It does not have to be that complicated. It is as simple as beginning with these basic steps;

1.       If you have a gut feeling that something is not right, then it usually isn’t. If there is no apparent reason for feeling this way, then a reason probably will become apparent at some point in the future. If you have an uneasy feeling or that something is not right, then take note of it. Don’t ignore it and do the complete opposite, which I have done many times.  At the same time, it also doesn’t mean to suddenly change what you are doing. All it means is take note, trust yourself.

2.       Using your intuition does not mean you need to totally throw all reason out the window. Balance intellect, intuition and research. This means do not solely rely on either of these things, however when used together you are able to implement the knowledge you have gained with discernment and wisdom.

3.       Take notice of how you experience intuition. We are all individual in the ways in which we receive intuitive messages. For one person they may be kinaesthetic and receive their messages in their feelings, for another they may hear it in their own voice or in a voice of another. It may speak to you in your dreams, in your thoughts and if your creative it may come out in your art or writing.

4.       Regularly allow yourself time to relax and clear your mind from all the clutter. In doing this you will become more receptive to your intuition.

5.       Have no expectations. If you have expectation of how you experience intuition, then you are limiting how it will happen.  Intuition is flowing; it is not something you can force.

6.       If you feel you are having a block, can’t think clearly or unsure of which way to proceed. Then do something different to take your mind of it. For example listening to some uplifting music, draw, write in a journal or exercise. I know this can be hard to do when faced with an important decision to make or if you are run off your feet busy.  This little bit of space is probably what you need most to clear your mind of mental clutter and release stress.

These steps can be applied to any aspect of your life whether, business or personal.
